A usual programme of three displays, where appropriate, gives visitors more than one opportunity to watch without asking them to remain at the arena all day. Agree performance slots with the organiser alongside other arena acts, livestock movements and access needs.
Commentary gives context to difficult riding and helps bring the wider arena audience into the action. Audience interaction can add a further reason to stay, while the portable setup supports planning around the available site.
What should a county show organiser check?
Discuss the performance area, surface, fencing, crowd sightlines and access for the team’s equipment. An approximately 20m × 20m fenced area is ideal for a general event where available, but other layouts can be discussed. The team brings its own PA and power; clarify any site-specific constraints ahead of the show.
Outdoor experience matters, but an all-weather approach is not a promise to ride in unsafe conditions. Agree how weather decisions and any timetable adjustments will be communicated.

How do you avoid timetable clashes?
Treat the display area as an arena slot with setup, audience movement and clearance time, not just a performance start time. Let the team know if livestock, vehicles or other acts use the same entrance or surface. A clear running order and a named event-day contact make it easier to adjust the programme when a busy showground timetable changes.
